Repair, spares and maintenance services were provided to London & South Eastern Railway Limited(LSER) under the terms of a 30 year contract between LSER and South Eastern Train Maintenance Limited (SETML), (now a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bombardier Group). The contract was competitively tendered but was originally entered into between SETML and Connex South Eastern Limited. The contract transferred to LSER when LSER took over the Integrated Kent Franchise in 2006. LSER and BTUK have varied the terms of this agreement in terms of the scope of the services provided (but not in respect of the rolling stock to which the services are provided) to reduce the level of services such that the varied contract provides for full spares supply and technical support. The term of the original contract is not exceeded under the variation.
