The School of Health and Social Care at Teesside University has a fully equipped Student Dental Facility (SDF) that offers a wide range of free dental treatments including oral hygiene, dietary advice, routine scale and polish and extensive periodontal treatments to a current population of approximately 3 000 patients. The SDF is Care Quality Commission (CQC) approved.The SDF provides a placement opportunity for students studying the Certificate in Dental Nursing and BSc (Hons) Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy courses to achieve the skills and competencies needed to complete their studies. The students currently provide free dental treatments to Teesside University staff and students as well as the wider community in the Tees Valley area. The University is seeking to lease its Dental estate to an external organisation in relation to fully taking over management of the SDF.
