The Centre for Solar Energy Research (CSER) is the project lead for the Solar Photovoltaic Academic Research Consortium (SPARC II). SPARC II is funded under the European Regional Developments SO1.1 to increase the success of Welsh research institutions in attracting competitive and private research funding (enhancing research infrastructure). The beneficiaries of the operation comprise of universities in the Convergence Region, led by Swansea University with partners Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities. The Operation will run from 1st January 2016 for 5 years to 31st December.CSER, part of Swansea University requires Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) of its thin film solar cells. CSER estimate 50 samples to be analysed by the technique each year and the requirement for this analysis to run until 31st December 2020 subject to continued funding.
