To achieve the objectives of COATED at Swansea University, it is necessary to have the ability to manufacture Aerogel in house from a variety of compounds such as oxides of silicon and aluminium and also from novel compounds such as carbon nanotubes. To facilitate this a supercritical drier has been identified as essential to the Centre’s activities. Funding for the purchase of this equipment has been made available through a EPSRC CDT grant.
