The works comprise the replacement of the embedded rail on certain sections of the Sheffield Supertram Network where wear has reached a critical condition. The Executive and South Yorkshire Supertram Limited need to ensure the system remains operable and in order to achieve this, the embedded rails need to be replaced. Sitting alongside this work is the need to replace some lengths of the embedded rail to support the tram/train project. The Contract deals with the 2014/15 works and comprises 19 sites across the city. The works are programmed to run between March 2014 and April 2015 including a winter break between September 2014 and March 2015 and have an estimated value of GBP 9.10 million.
