The cell sorters are to be purchased for the Technology Hub and will be part of the Flow Cytometry core facility. 1 will replace an existing sorter. As a part of a core facility accessed by customers with diverse interests it must be a versatile instrument capable of sorting a variety of cell types. Ease of use will be considered important without compromising capability.The sorters will be part of a core facility and must be capable of sorting to high purity a diverse range of cell types at a speed >10 000 cells/s. After sorting the cells must have a viability at or greater than 90 %. They must provide us with the ability to achieve sterile sorts allowing the long-term culture of the sorted cells. The supplier must be able to demonstrate what built-in features the instrument has in this respect and be able to demonstrate its effectiveness. However, we are looking to provide 1 of the machines as a system that can be operated by our customers themselves after training, but with minimal input from our cell sorting specialist.The cell sorter must have the option of being supplied with a dedicated biological safety cabinet.
