TENDER FOR THE SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF TWO HIGH SPEED CELL SORTERS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM

Descriptions

The cell sorters are to be purchased for the Technology Hub and will be part of the Flow Cytometry core facility. One will replace an existing sorter. As a part of a core facility accessed by customers with diverse interests it must be a versatile instrument capable of sorting a variety of cell types. Ease of use will be considered important without compromising capability. The sorters will be part of a core facility and must be capable of sorting to high purity a diverse range of cell types at a speed >10,000 cells /sec. After sorting the cells must have a viability at or greater than 90%. They must provide us with the ability to achieve sterile sorts, allowing the long term culture of the sorted cells. The supplier must be able to demonstrate what built-in features the instrument has in this respect and be able to demonstrate its effectiveness. However, we are looking to provide one of the machines as a system that can be operated by our customers themselves after training, but with minimal input from our cell sorting specialist. The cell sorter must have the option of being supplied with a dedicated biological safety cabinet.
