Testing Place Based Models for Distributing Tariff Funding for Clinical Placements
Descriptions
Government reforms announced in 2015 removed NHS bursary funding for non-medical pre-registration healthcare courses and HEE's role in the direct commissioning of nursing, midwifery and Allied Health Professions (NMAHP) HEE continues to be responsible for funding clinical placements, based on the traffic set by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC); this is at a level commensurate with the minimum numbers of registered professionals needed by the NHS. Against the backdrop of government changes to healthcare education funding, HEE published the first system wide workforce strategy for 25 years, which; •outlines the key interventions we will make now to deal with current workforce issues •analyses the transformation the NHS workforce needs for the future; and •sets out the actions that will start the journey The pilot programme will be an important exercise to understand how placement capability and capacity can be improved to support the wider objectives of HEE's workforce strategy to grow and develop the workforce and shape the future workforce.
