Market consultation to lease A3 premises for Community or Commercial activities from Newydd Housing Association to benefit the local community.Newydd Housing Association wishes to identify and consult with interested partners to lease a space in the soon to be refurbished building that will offer social housing; previously known as the "Castle Hotel" in Jewel Street, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.Newydd Housing Association have secured planning permission under reference no. 2019/01062/FUL for the re-development of the former Castle Hotel to provide 14 residential properties and an A3 Commercial / Community space. The 14 residential properties will be let and managed by the association. Newydd Housing Association seeks a tenant to occupy and run the A3 Commercial / Community space with uses such as a restaurant, café, food takeaway and as a drinking establishment permissible within the space.Within the current proposals, there is approximately 800msq of available A3 space split over three floors. Within the basement, a skittle alley will be retained for use. The ground floor will see the original bar retained with additional flexible spaces for additional uses. The first floor will see a larger function space retained for use. The current proposed specification for the commercial / community space is on a ‘shell and core’ basis.Interested parties may be invited to tender for the lease to operate the community/commercial space for the benefit of the local community whilst maintaining their financial viability.Newydd Housing Association wishes to return the building back to full use; establishing a vibrant community/commercial hub which will flourish and offer a range of opportunities for local residents.
