The Crichton Project

Through the enterprising custodianship of The Crichton, The Crichton Trust aim to establish a world-renowned home and destination for innovation; a place for people to cohabit and share ideas – all inspired by The Crichton’s extraordinary history, places and spaces. The project will replace the former hospital laundry, which commands a prominent and strategic position within The Crichton, with a high quality sustainable new building as a centre for reflection, research and wellbeing with a specialism of international significance in art and wellbeing. The contract will seek to secure an architecture practice or collaborative group of practices to deliver the intial designs of the Crichton Project building via a two stage selection process. Stage one The first stage of the process encourages applications from a wide range of architecture practices large and small - collaboration and engagement with local organisations and businesses is encouraged. Bidders will be asked to complete the following: An expression of interest and proposed approach/ethos A Completed SPD document Stage 2 A shortlist of a minimum of 4 suppliers will be selected from the first stage after a thorough review process. Shortlisted teams will then be invited to meet with the Crichton Trust and RIAS teams to visit the site and further define the brief before working on their second stage submissions. Once submitted each time will be invited to present their project proposals before a final selection and appointment is made.
