Bury Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced provider for: The Provision of a Mass Participation Running Event in autumn 2020 and autumn 2021 CURRENT PROVISION The current contract has been running for 4 years and expires after the 2019 event, with no further provision to extend. SCOPE To run a sustainable Mass Participation running event in Bury which will help motivate people who live, work, and study in Bury to become active, to maintain participation levels in physical activity and to increase visitor numbers to Bury The aspiration is to make the run a sustainable annual celebration event through participant income and sponsorship which will engage with women and girls and their families (IWIYW), which has now become a part of the annual Bury events calendar and the North West running calendar. A legacy of the 'I Will If You Will' programme funded through Sport England and National Lottery funds. The event will provide opportunities for all to participate, and will be aimed at families, individual runners and teams of all abilities. This event caters for all including Wheelchair users, partially sighted people, and joggers of all abilities who are able to walk for parts of the route too. The event will also look to engage a strong volunteer workforce and spectators throughout the communities of Bury. The route will ideally start and finish at a suitable town centre location and the planned route is to be planned taking into consideration the town's key tourist locations. As part of the mass participation event we are looking for an experienced event company to deliver: iA 10k town run targeting individual runners and teams of runners. iiA shorter (2k-5k) fun run targeting families and beginner runners. One of Bury Council's key priorities is Healthier lives for all as well as supporting the people of Bury to take ownership of their own health and wellbeing. This annual event links with the wellness approach for Bury and the Locality Plans. We know that prevention is key, and in order to strive to meet our goal of Healthier lives for all, we recognise that the most effective interventions are those that involve whole communities and whole populations. Our aim is to attract between 2000 - 3500 participant entries for the mass participation event each year. This tender is for a single provider award If you cannot meet the specification detailed in this document you will not be considered further. A guide budget has not been provided as the council seeks to secure best value for money The new contract will be for two years with an option to extend for a further two years, reviewed on an annual basis.
