Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is the second largest unitary authority in Wales with around 241,000 people living in the area.This contract will be to supply Line Marking Materials, which will be stored at its three main depots in Dinas (Rhondda), Abercynon (Cynon) and Coed Cae Lane (Taf).The Parks and Countryside Section is responsible for the management of over 400 hectares of green spaces within the County Borough. These green spaces range from two premier parks (Ynysangharad War Memorial Park and Aberdare Park), Dare Valley Country Park, through to key countryside sites and sports grounds.There are 110 sports pitches providing facilities for football, rugby and a few dual use sites. The majority of these sites are marked out on a weekly basis using battery operated pump line marking machines, with a limited use of mechanically operated pump line marking machines preferred by some operatives.The current method of operation is that a mobile gang of grounds staff will pre-mix the required amount of line marking fluid and water into 25 litre plastic drums and transport them to the required sites for marking out. In some areas, there may be site-based staff and they will have a number of pre-mixed drums provided on site in readiness for marking out.There are three main Parks depots situated within Rhondda Cynon Taf and within each one there is located at least one 1,000 litre multi-fill tank situated on a stand to allow for the safe distribution into the smaller drums for mixing and transporting to site.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
