The provision of post mortem pig carcase and lesion scoring as part of the AHDB Pig Health Scheme.
Descriptions
Tenders are invited for the provision of post mortem pig carcase and lesion scoring as part of the Pig Health Scheme. AHDB are looking for a tenderer with suitable assessors to service the Scheme. AHDB expects the successful tenderer to achieve an accurate and highly consistent service. The objective of the AHDB Pig Health Scheme is to record and score specific pathological lesions seen in consignments of pigs submitted to large pig abattoirs in England and disseminate the results back to producers and their veterinarians in a format that assists in the development of health management plans. The observations are made on up to fifty pig carcasses per consignment on selected days, the aim being to carry out at least four inspections per slap mark per annum. The focus of the Scheme is primarily on health and is based on standardised assessments with a statistically sound system of sampling each slap mark. Assessments are carried out by veterinarians with experience of pig medicine and production.
