(http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:131823-2014:TEXT:EN:HTML&tabId=1)TED is the public procurement database of the European Union.BACKGOUNDThe objective of this tender is to modify and simplify the nursery milk scheme. Under the Welfare Food Scheme Regulations 1996, the Department of Health operate a nursery milk scheme for all children under the age of five in attendence of a day care or early years setting for two or more hours per day. Each child is eligable to receive a free daily drink of milk (1/3 pint or 189ml). Children less than one year old are given infant formula. Reimbursements and claims are currently goverened in this Act. Welsh children are also included in this scheme.The scheme has remained largely unchanged since the 1940's. Following a consultation exercise in 2012 the najority of respondents are in support of receiving milk as direct delivery.
