Newcastle University has received substantial funding for the purchase of a Helium Ion Microscope. After appropriate tendering procedures a Zeiss Orion Nanofab instrument was selected. We now wish to source a Secondary Ion Mass Analyser capable of being operated with this instrument to provide spectra of small mass fragments from very small volumes. Examples may include individual core-shell nanoparticles, geological features 30 nm in diameter, and individual semiconductor devices. We anticipate applications in geology, bioengineering and allied fields where research at this university is very strong.
