Teignbridge District Council owns and operates its own Bulking Station to process the household dry recyclables it collects through its in-house kerbside sort collection service. Collections are made from approximately 58 000 properties at present. This number is set to rise to 70 000 over the next 2 decades.It is the intention of the Council to introduce a new recycling collection service from June 2015. This will be a weekly service offering the collection of a wide range of materials including Mixed Plastics (including bottles, pots, tubs and trays) and tins, cans and empty aerosols. These will be collected comingled and handled at the Council's Bulking Station.The Bulking Station will be undergoing a significant expansion with completion expected by March 2015. A plan of the proposed development will be included in the Tender pack which details the area set aside for a new sorting and baling Solution for Mixed Plastics, ‘Tins, Cans and Aerosols'.The Council now wishes to procure a ‘Solution' to separate Tins, Cans and Aerosols and Mixed Plastics including bottles from household recycling collections and bring banks.Interested parties are invited to provide a sorting and baling ‘Solution' that enables Tins, Cans and Aerosols and Mixed Plastics to be processed from the point of deposit from collection vehicles into separate bales of Mixed Plastics, aluminium and steel within the area identified.
