A recent review of Microbiology Services in North Wales has recommended Microbiology services are provided from a centralised facility with limited provision on other sites.Microbiology services in Rhyl have recently moved to a new facility that will accommodate a centralised service and consolidation of the Microbiology Service across North Wales to incorporate services currently provided from Bangor Rhyl and Wrexham is underway.We are seeking a fully automated solution for bacteriology to include specimen processing, incubation, automated plate reading, identification and susceptibility testing.The solution needs to be compatible with recent investment in MALDI Tof MS technology and provide improvements in quality efficiency and effectiveness.The contract will be awarded in March / April 2014.Compliance with current GMP regulatory requirements including the European In-Vitro Diagnostic Directive is essential.Contract will be for purchase of equipment, however the Trust will also ask for lease costs for comparison purposes.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
