Training for staff in acute settings working with Children and Young people in Mental Health Crisis

In response to the commitments set out in the NHS LTP, in 2017 crisis training was commissioned by HEE and provided for staff working in acute services with children and young people presenting in mental health crisis. This training aimed to equip staff working in acute settings with the skills, knowledge and confidence to provide high quality care to children and young people presenting to hospital in a mental health crisis. This crisis training was provided across the Northeast and Yorkshire and Humber however other regions including the London and Southeast, and KSS had also previously commissioned this training., Regional and national funding bids were submitted as part of the Medium-Term, Funding bids process in December 2020. In April 2021 it was confirmed that a, national bid to support continued roll out of training across the country for staff in acute, settings working with CYP in MH crisis had been successful and funding has now been, confirmed to 2023/24., The purpose of this procurement exercise is to identify a suitable provider to build on the training already commenced in 2020/21 for staff working in acute settings to improve mental health crisis support for children and young people and improve the competency and confidence of professionals caring for children and young people with mental health needs.
