The Welsh Assembly Government’s work on children and young people’s participation is underpinned by its commitment to Article 12 of the UNCRC which states that children and young people should have a say on matters which affect them.The Welsh Assembly Government is determined to ensure children and young people’s participation is mainstreamed into normal business processes, such as developing policy, consulting citizens and stakeholders, procuring and auditing services, appointment of staff etc. The Welsh Assembly Government wants to see participation embedded as a sustainable feature of the way organisations do business in WalesThe Welsh Assembly Government have been running a Participation project designed to increase opportunities for children & young people aged 0-25 to participate in decision-making on issues which affect their lives. The aims of the initiatives taking place are to support, facilitate and raise awareness of the active involvement of children and young people from a broad range of social backgrounds and across ability rangeThe ESF Reach the Heights funded “Your Voice Your Choice” Participation Project is aimed at providing young people aged 11-19 from Convergence Areas in Wales with the opportunity of getting involved in training, taking part in the project and making decisions, planning and reviewing any action that might affect their lives.The aim is to provide training sessions on Participation to young people (11-19) (groups or individuals) who share a protected characteristic , who may be difficult to engage, with the emphasis on tackling underachievement.Under the Equality Act 2010 the following characteristics are protected characteristics – age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; and sexual orientation.The Welsh Assembly Government, on behalf of the Welsh Ministers, will be conducting this procurement exercise through the etenderwales portal https://etenderwales.bravosolution.co.uk.
