The Pathology (and Pharmacy) Depts at the three main acute hospitals (Ysbyty Gwynedd (YG) in Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd (YGC) in Bodelwyddan nr. Rhyl and Ysbyty Maelor Wrecsam (YMW) in Wrexham have a requirement to transport patient samples, reports and other information between each hospital and some of the smaller hospitals. (for full addresses and postcodes see Section 10 below.The requirement is for a safe, secure and efficient pre-scheduled regular transport service to and from the locations listed in the table in Section 5 below at the times and frequencies specified. A signature will be required for each drop/delivery/collection,Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is committed to the provision of a dedicated, professional, high quality transport service and wishes to select a service provider accordingly. This specification sets out the requirements for the provision of this service.Items to be transported are listed below. They include pathology specimens, samples, post, pharmaceuticals, miscellaneous parcels and packages (of various sizes) and general provisions. This list is not exhaustive. Where appropriate, all items will be securely packaged and transported in appropriate containers.• Courier bags• Boxes of slides• Paper documents• Parcels and packages (various sizes)• Hazardous goods eg. bodily samples, fluids• Larger sample containers (up to 10 litres of fluid)• DrugsAll will need to be packaged securely to prevent movement during transit. The vehicle must carry spillage kits to minimize the effects of any leakages or damage to the containers which may occur during handling or transport. Drivers must be trained in and carry on the vehicle the model rules for safe transport of samples and actions in the event of a spillage or accident.
