Ty Gnoll Newydd Sheltered Housing Scheme is on the outskirts of Neath Town Centre within a residential area with traditional semi-detached and terraced dwellings,overlooking the Gnoll Rugby Ground and tennis courts.Traditionally constructed 3 storey building on a multi levelled site with a lower ground level. The building is made up of separate blocks of facing brick and alpine render. There are also areas of concrete vertical tiles. There is a balcony area on the first floor with an asphalt covered roof to below.The works will comprise of the refurbishment of the existing Sheltered Accommodation at Ty Gnoll Newydd and comprises of;-Excavation and creation of a new accessible entrance with a lift, a new office, and the creation of two additional dwellings around existing sun terrace and laundry-Alterations to existing warden’s accommodation and office-Upgrading works to flats to meet current WHQS standards, works include renewal of kitchen and provision of shower room new electrical and mechanical installations-Upgrading electrical and mechanical installations to flats to current WHQS standards where kitchens and shower rooms have already been installed-Upgrading electrical and mechanical installations to flat where no other works are to be undertaken-General upgrading and alterations including renewal of Electrical and Mechanical installations to all communal areas-Externally, provision of additional parking areas, bin stores, switch room base, Bin storage areas and new paving and patio areas together with associated drainage revisions.In conjunction with the above works NPT Homes will carry out the following works using directly employed contractors.-Renewal of flat entrance doors and other external doors with the exception of main building front entrance doors-Provision/supply of new windows and uPVC doors where indicated-Decommissioning and removal of existing centralised heating system
