This contract is for the study of construction ofLoCoLoCO2 buildings in order to understand:— The drivers, barriers, attitudes and challengeshrough the various stages of construction, fromspecification and design, through construction andsupply chain, to hand-over and occupancy.— The costs and cost drivers associated withconstruction.— The actual energy performance of these homeswhen occupied and the reasons behind thisperformance.The evidence will be used to support the case forpolicy to support low-carbon building construction andan understanding of the art of the possible to informfuture emissions reductions plans. Also allow BEIS togain an understanding of how to apply, to retrofitprojects, an integrated approach to design, processes,measures and technologies, as opposed to thesequential approach taken to typically retrofit existinghousing stock.
