BAS conducts research on polar ice sheets and mountain glaciers with a remit to understand better changing glacial systems and their effect on global sea levels and fresh water resources. BAS require a service including the design (with FAA DER Review and Approval), build and flight-testing of a helicopter-borne instrument platform that meets airworthiness requirements for sling-load operations, with the end product being a flight-ready platform for deployment over valley glaciers in high-mountain Asia (suitable for use in Nepal, India, Pakistan). The contract will be awarded based on the criteria set out on the sourcing documents.
