This requirement is for the Supply of Small Laboratory Animals of the Rodentia Order for Research purposes that is compliant with current Home Office legislation or equivalent.Government Research Laboratories and the Research Councils are engaged in world-class science and discovery and require materials and models of the best quality to maintain and further their high profile in the scientific arena.There is a requirement for Animals Models from Library Stocks and Strains, and also for the production of heterozygotic and homozygotic Transgenic animal models from genetic information supplied.The requirement is split into four Lots:Lot 1: Small Laboratory Animals from Library Stocks – MiceTo supply pure stable strains of healthy breeding mice for research purposes only, which exhibit high fecundity together with sustainable litter sizes. They should not demonstrate any genetic variation and have no heritable genetic diseases. The animals should be Specific Pathogen Free and should be bred and maintained in accordance with Home Office and EU guidelines. The supplier must be able to provide all relevant documentation to demonstrate compliance with the animal husbandry regulations together with historical proof of the breeding line, together with up to date evidence of routine genotyping to verify the strain.Lot 2: Small Laboratory Animals from Library Stocks – RatsTo supply pure stable strains of healthy breeding rats for research purposes only, and which exhibit high fecundity together with sustainable litter sizes. They should not demonstrate any genetic variation and have no heritable genetic diseases. The animals should be Specific Pathogen Free and should be bred and maintained in accordance with Home Office and EU guidelines. The supplier must be able to provide all relevant documentation to demonstrate compliance with the animal husbandry regulations together with historical proof of the breeding line, together with up to date evidence of routine genotyping to verify the strain.Lot 3: Small Laboratory Animals – Custom Transgenics – MiceThe supply of Custom Transgenic Mice will be a collaborative process between Researcher and Supplier and should follow specific milestones during the derivation process. This will involve setting up Confidentiality Agreements agreed between the Research establishment and Supplier to ensure the exchange of all intellectual property is held in strict confidence by the Supplier.Lot 4: Small Laboratory Animals – Custom Transgenics –Rats.The supply of Custom Transgenic Rats will be a collaborative process between Researcher and Supplier and should follow specific milestones during the derivation process. This will involve setting up Confidentiality Agreements agreed between the Research establishment and Supplier to ensure the exchange of all intellectual property is held in strict confidence by the Supplier.UK SBS will require the Potential Providers to quote against their Specification and provide the requested supporting data for all quoted services.The resulting contracts will be of a framework nature with multiple vendors with sites throughout the UK being able to place orders. Following evaluation of the compliant Bids in the next RFQ stage, and approval of the outcome, the Authority intends to appoint the appropriate number of successful Suppliers to enter into a Contract for Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4.Publish Contract Notice and Issue RFI: 16/04/2014RFI Return Date: 06/06/2014Notification of proposed shortlist: 17/06/2014Issue of RFQ Documents to successful Bidders: 25/06/2014Anticipated Contract Award Date: 26/08/2014
