Ofcom is the independent regulator and national competition authority for the communications industries within the UK, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications, wireless communications services and postal services. Ofcom was created in December 2003 by merging 5 legacy regulatory bodies and responsibility for postal regulation transferred to Ofcom in October 2011. For more information, visit www.ofcom.org.ukAt Riverside House there is approximately 1 000 staff, including tenants who use the cafe and hospitality services. Ofcom requires a professional and highly effective catering supplier to provide a high standard of catering services to staff, executives and visitors. Our catering offering comprises a cafe, hot drinks vending and hospitality. The cafe provides breakfast for around 130 customers daily and lunch (including deli bar) for around 240 customers daily. Hot drinks vending (for Ofcom only) consists of managing 13 hot drinks machines spread over seven floors for approximately 800 people. A hospitality service is provided to a suite of 10 meeting rooms on the 1st Floor, the Ofcom Board Room and another meeting room on the 11th Floor, and sometimes tenants' board rooms on their floors. Occasionally there are evening events that require a hospitality service. Functions can vary from 0-6 per day and numbers at each function can vary from 2-200. A compact kitchen is provided, adjacent to the cafe on the Ground Floor and a pantry on the 1st Floor for servicing hospitality functions. The supplier must be willing to participate in recycling initiatives.This contract will operate on a cost-plus management fee basis, with guarantees.The contract duration is 3 years with 2 options to extend by further periods of 12 months each, to a maximum contract period of 5 years.
