UKSBS PR20075 Interferometric Microscope for Surface Texture & Form Metrology
Descriptions
UKRI-STFC is seeking to purchase an interferometric microscope optical profiler for measuring the surface texture and form of high-precision machined and optically polished components. The range of surfaces we require to measure is diverse: •High-precision, conventionally machined surfaces with relatively large roughness (50 - 500 nm) and strong curvature giving a large height range (several 100 µm) •Diamond turned surfaces with roughness of a few nm and flat or curved shapes •Highly-polished optical surfaces with a few Angstrom roughness. •Patterned surfaces formed by e.g. laser etching with surface steps of the order 100 µm UKRI-STFC have an essential requirement to measure surface form of strongly curved surfaces as well as roughness at high vertical and lateral resolution. This means the instrument will need to be able to perform stitching of individual measurements (sub-maps) made with relatively high magnification objectives both accurately and quickly. The need for performing fast scanning at full camera resolution with high vertical resolution will form a key part of the technical specification. The aim is to purchase a non-contact metrology instrument with the capability to simultaneously measure surface texture and form (shape and waviness) of surfaces with large slopes and height variations. The contract is for the supply of an instrument for measuring surface texture and form of precision machined and optical surfaces as described in the Specification. The key components of the contract are: •The core instrument (microscope head, support stand and sample stage), control electronics and cables, computer system and data acquisition software •5x and 10x magnification objectives, costed separately to allow delayed purchase if required to fit in with budget •Delivery to STFC Daresbury Laboratory, Sci-Tech Daresbury, Warrington WA4 4AD, UK •On-site set-up and testing to demonstrate the required performance is achieved •On-site training in basic instrument operation, including stitching process For the full detailed specification of the requirement, please refer to the document entitled; PR20075 - Specification for an Interferometric Microscope for surface texture & form metrology
