Descriptions
Replace all the existing desktop estate (PC’s plus monitors plus keyboards and mice) with new hardware. This will include replacing existing laptops (to include docking stations etc.) with up to date equivalents. Approximately 129 desktop devices plus 24 laptops. All existing monitors will be replaced – the intention is to install larger format screens but final size will ultimately depend on budget ideal would be 22 inch. V2C’s preference is to upgrade to thin clients for existing desktop PC’s and to deliver virtual desktop images to those devices via an appropriate session broker. Laptop users will also receive replacement laptops (including desktop docking stations etc.) and will have a virtual desktop image delivered to them whilst they are connected to the V2C network. This project will also deliver an upgrade from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 on the desktop and will deliver an upgrade from Office 2007 to Office 2010. As a result any solution must be capable of supporting Office 2010. V2C will manage the procurement of the necessary licences for the desktop OS outside of the scope of this project. The project covers supply, configuration and installation of the hardware; configuration of desktop images; training of IT staff in new technologies, ongoing technical support for 3 years post implementation with the option to extend that support contract up to 5 years in total. The project also covers disposal of existing equipment in compliance with the W.E.E. directive.
