Descriptions
To create Miyawaki forests Buckinghamshire Council must partner with a suitable technical delivery partner. This partner will be Earthwatch Institute (registered charity: 1094467) - a UK Miyawaki pioneer. Earthwatch have developed a 'Tiny Forest' implementation framework that can be applied to each Buckinghamshire Council project. Earthwatch are to create two Tiny Forests as part of a Local Authority Treescape Fund (LATF) application for 2022-2023. Earthwatch work to identify and prepare suitable sites in urban locations, and engage with local communities to plant, maintain, and monitor their forest over the first two years. Earthwatch then train volunteers to undertake longer term management and maintenance. Earthwatch collect, and share, environmental and social data for every forest planted, to assess the benefits Miyawaki provides over time and between different forests. Earthwatch create educational resources that can be used in a range of school or community settings.
