Wales-Mbale TACC Project Management

The Client seeks a supplier for a contract to deliver Welsh project management support to the Wales – Mbale (Uganda) Territorial Approach to Climate Change project. This project (supported by the UN Development programme and other international and national donors) will support the region of Mbale in Uganda to develop its own climate change action plan, using expertise and support from Wales and the UN. The plan can then be used to access international funding streams and implement climate change adaptation and mitigation activities. A series of ‘quick win’ climate projects in Mbale will also be supported, that help to benefit the local people and communities. Another linked project - part of a ‘Size of Wales’ initiative to protect and sustain tropical forests in Africa the size of Wales – has already begun and aims to plant 1 million trees in Mbale over the next 2 years.The contracted provider will be expected to co-ordinate, along with the Welsh Assembly Government’s Wales for Africa team, the Welsh TACC Steering group and the engagement of Welsh organisations and with the TACC project. They will also help facilitate the Welsh Assembly Government’s liaison with the UNDP Project Manager in Mbale and other partners and donors. The contracted provider will provide advice and support to the Welsh Assembly Government and partner organisations in Mbale, help to communicate and publicise the project, and will monitor and evaluate the project from a Welsh engagement perspective.The overall project has already begun, so we want the contracted provider to begin immediately. Funding is for this financial year (2011-12) and next year (2012-13) so the contract will finish on 31 March 2013.
