Waltham Forest Community Ophthalmology Services
Descriptions
NHS Waltham Forest Clinical Commissioning Group is keen to test the potential provider market for delivery of community ophthalmology services. The service required is for the community-based provision of assessment, treatment and management of ophthalmic conditions in line with the inclusion and exclusion criteria outlined in the service specification (which will be shared with potential bidders at the event) . The community service aims to be delivered via a prime contractor model with appropriate sub-contracting arrangements in place, to address the needs of patients and provide access to services in a timely manner thus avoiding appointments at the local hospital. As such the service will be responsive in offering direct access (on the day) and routine appointments depending on eye condition. The service will be required to provide diagnosis of glaucoma patients and management of stable long term conditions including diabetic retinopathy and Age related macular degeneration (AMD) together with a Minor Eye Conditions (MECS) service. The provider will work alongside the local acute trust to develop protocols for patients that can be effectively managed in the community. The envisaged contract term is for 3 years and possible 1 year extension . The payment mechanism for the contract is cost and volume, and therefore the value will be determined by the levels of shifts in activity. Potential bidders should be aware that the indicated contract value does not take into account expected population growth with Waltham Forest. The market participation event is aimed at bringing potential providers together and shaping service development to ensure bidders cover all elements of service provision, will be held on 8th April 2016 11:00 to 13:00 at Kirkdale House 7 Kirkdale Road, Leytonstone , London, E11 1HP
