Waste and Recycling Collection Service and Processing of Dry Recycling (Stafford Borough Council)

Descriptions

Stafford Borough is a mixed urban and rural district covering an area of 597km² in the centre of the county of Staffordshire. It has a population of approximately 130,000 and there are approximately 57,290 households, with 2 main towns: the county town of Stafford and the town of Stone; along with a number of villages of various sizes. The current waste and recycling collection service contract is due to expire on 3rd February 2018 and the Council requires a new contract for services beyond that date. The Council also recognises that the world of municipal collection and processing contracts is changing. There are continual demands for efficiency savings, shared services and harmonisation of methodologies. With this in mind, the Council proposes to enter into a Framework Agreement for these services with the successful tenderer. The framework agreement duration will be 6 years. Stafford Borough Council will call off its own contract for the period 4th February 2018 to 31st March 2028 with an option to extend for a further 10 years, i.e. to 31st March 2038.
