WCBC Personal Skills Development Course
Descriptions
Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking to appoint an organisation to provide a service of ‘Paid supported employment for people (aged 25+ years.) who reside in the Caia Park & Hightown areas of Wrexham’. Current statistics show us that there are 362 Job Seekers Allowance claimants who are 25+ years in this area. The purpose of the service is to reduce unemployment in these areas. This Service is part of the Skills & Employment Project that forms part of Welsh Government’s Vibrant & Viable Programme (VVP) in Wrexham. The aim of the Service is to help address barriers to work for those who are either unemployed or economically inactive through the provision of supported work placements. The Service must provide structured, relevant and supported employment to those furthest from the labour market in order to give participants new skills, increased confidence and work experience that will enable them to become economically active and progress into unsubsidised employment. This will also lead to greater social cohesion and sustainable development in one of the most disadvantaged communities in Wales.Through the Vibrant and Viable Places project, Wrexham County Borough Council is aiming to facilitate an intervention which equips participants with the “building blocks” or “core skills” that will enable them to fully embrace future opportunities. Without this first layer of capabilities, individuals do not have the basis on which to develop employability skills expected by employers. We are therefore looking to empower participants and influence their mind set/attitude to see the contribution they can make, as well as encourage self-belief in the skills they have to offer which can contribute and develop further in a work focussed environment. The intervention also aims to build a participant’s motivation to seek opportunities and the confidence to take them. The intervention should complement the rest of the Vibrant and Viable Places programme by ensuring that participants are equipped to move on to the established Employability Skills course (Foundation course). The supplier must be able to meet the timescales of Foundation courses which are as follows:-Group 1Information Sessions: 2nd September 2016 and 9th September 2016Course Dates: 21st September 2016 to 13th October 2016Group 2Information Sessions: 28th October 2016 and 4th November 2016Course Dates: 16th November 2016 to 8th December 2016Group 3 (tbc)Information Sessions: 16th December 2016 and 6th January 2017Course Dates: 11th January 2017 to 2nd February 2017NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=48688.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility.
