Website Accessibility Toolbar – Making our Website more Accessible

Descriptions

Need: Accessibility regulations came into force for public sector bodies in the UK on 23 September 2018. This has placed a requirement on councils to make website, apps and the content of websites accessible, based on WCAG 2.1.At least 1 in 5 people in the UK have a long-term illness, impairment or disability. Many more have a temporary disability. Many of which use assistive technology, such as screen readers, in order to access websites, documents and PDFs.Wrexham Council has created a new website, and it is accessible by default. Wrexham Council is looking for a website tool to improve the accessibility of the website, by providing tools to change the layout, font of text, font size and even to translate and read out the content of the page.Requirements of solution-Accessibility toolbar needs to be intuitive and easy to use-Toolbar needs to meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards-Toolbar allows website visitors to customise the website, change, download and modify content to suit their needs and requirements e.g. Screen reader, styling, translation and reading tools-Must work with standard web browsers, as defined by GDS GOV.UK Browsers to test in (from January 2021) https://www.gov.uk/service-manual/technology/designing-for-different-browsers-and-devices-We are looking for a SaaS solution-Solution should be easy to implement, and include statistical reporting-Security/ GDPR – Data must be secured, and held in a GDPR compliant method and location.-We are looking for an initial 3 year contractPlease email your response with an overview of your solution to Rachel Glynn, Category Manager by 12 noon on the 15th Julyrachel.glynn@wrexham.gov.uk
