Descriptions
REQUIREMENTSWBS wishes to undertake a piece of work to analyse our current clinic planning and blood donation activity. This will examine the planning process and its link to capacity and demand, the size and reach of each donor panel, optimum clinic capacity, the productivity of each clinic, the staffing levels and assignment of bleed bed capacity and productivity of each collection clinic venue.WBS further wishes to conduct a value stream mapping (VSM) exercise of current clinics to help streamline process and reduce inefficiencies, thus maximising the donor and staff experience. The VSM work should overlay, incorporating operational support functions, identifying strengths and weaknesses in operational delivery. The work will be used to inform the development of a new planning and performance tool for blood collection activity. It is intended to enable us review the suitability of our current clinic arrangements (location and time) and will align with donor survey work being undertaken to assess the impact of the changes made to donation clinic arrangements in 2012 and the subsequent impact on donor attendance.
