Wick Lane Car Park Wall Repairs
Descriptions
One of the two main car parks serving central Christchurch, this car park is on two levels separated by a retaining wall which is approximately 1.2m high. The wall is of uncertain age but is at least 100 years old. Recent extensive plant growth has caused extensive damage to the wall. Historically sensitive repairs and reconstruction are required to ensure future stability of the wall. The wall is located within the Christchurch conservation area, close to a scheduled ancient monument and near to the Christchurch heritage triangle. All works are being co-ordinated with the Christchurch and East Dorset listed building officer. The works will involve the clearing away and herbicidal treatment of ivy and bay over a long period. The wall will require dismantling and reconstruction using photographic or stone number techniques so that its reconstruction is similar if not identical to that prior to removal. Additionally those parts of the wall not reconstructed will require repointing. All these works are to be carried out using traditional lime mortars to an approved mix. Tenderers must upload and submit Supplier Response Documents electronically via www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk Note that you must upload your documents and then submit your documents. If you upload your documents but fail to "Submit" them, the Authority will not receive them and they will not be considered during the evaluation stage.
