The purpose of this questionnaire and the associated tender document is to enable ConstructionSkills to select an appropriate provider(s) to procure a provider(s) to pilot the delivery of new Qualifications in Wind Turbine Operation & Maintenance:•City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering - Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance - 500/9565/1•City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering - Wind Turbine Maintenance (Technical Knowledge) - 500/9564/X•City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering - Wind Turbine Operations and Maintenance - 500/9566/3The qualifications are aimed at both developing new recruits into the low carbon, renewable energy generation industry and to up-skill or re-skill existing employees. This pilot project will enable groups of 8 to 10 individuals (depending on demand) to work towards the qualifications. The project is funded by Welsh Assembly Government’s Sector Priorities Fund Programme, which is backed by the European Social Fund. Carnegie College are currently piloting the qualifications, and the associated apprenticeship, in Scotland and have offered their services to providers in Wales who want to benchmark with them and up-skill their trainers and/or assessors. They are also prepared to sell their course materials to any provider who may be interested in accelerating their qualification preparation processThe information provided by parties who tender for this project will assist employers operating in the renewable energy generation industry to identify a provider(s) to deliver the new ‘wind turbine operation and maintenance’ apprenticeship in Wales - which consists of the level 3 qualifications being piloted through this project.Key Dates and Information Channels•A question and answer (Q&A) session for interested parties held at the Wynnstay Hotel in Oswestry (SY11 2SZ) on the 7th of December at 14.00 to enable interested parties to find out more about the programme and ask related questions to help them in their tender response, and the Terms and Conditions relating to this tender will be distributed.•Providers interested in attending the Q&A session should e-mail kirsty.elliott@euskills.co.uk by 12:00 on the 6th of December.•Interested parties will be able to submit questions by e-mail to kirsty.elliott@euskills.co.uk (titled ‘Low Carbon SPF Procurement Question’) by 12:00 noon on the 14th of December.
