Workforce Development Trauma Informed Healing Centered training
Descriptions
KCC are looking to procure a training provider to deliver a trauma informed healing centred programme of training for the Family Hubs workforce will be interacting with individuals 0-19-year-olds, expectant, new, matured parents, grandparents who have experienced adversities and as such, trauma at different stages of their lives. Trauma-informed approaches have become increasingly cited in policy and adopted in practice as a means for reducing the negative impact of trauma experiences and supporting mental and physical health outcomes. A trauma informed approach forms part of a public health response to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), helping develop a strong professional workforce that are able to meet the needs of children, adults and families struggling with past trauma, including training and supervision as well as the time necessary to establish strong relationships. It also shares commonalities with high-quality care environments, including: 1) Shared decision making, service user involvement and collaborative learning with service users 2) Integrated working with partner organisations to help develop a consistent culture of care. 3) The principles of compassionate leadership. 4) Reflective learning linked to effectiveness and innovation. The purpose of training on trauma informed healing-centred approaches is not to treat trauma-related difficulties but provide staff with the awareness and ability to recognise the signs of trauma in clients, families and staff and others involved with the organisation. The training will help staff understand the barriers that people affected by trauma can experience when accessing services, how it can negatively impact on individuals and communities, and their ability to feel safe or develop trusting relationships with staff when accessing services. Training should include the targeted development of selected strategic and all levels of operational staff to act as change agents and peer supporters to model and embed this approach and ensure its sustainability, as well as the provision of trauma informed coaching, and a commitment to developing a 'Start for Life and Family Hubs Community of Practice'. These targeted development programmes will encourage participants to safely co-produce organic, innovative services and solutions informed by lived experience, which recognise the impact of adversity, in childhood and in adulthood, and which offer a trauma-sensitive, co-creative, healing-centred response.
