World Heritage Site Tourism Project – strand 1 Business Mentoring and Grant scheme
Descriptions
Wrexham County Borough Council, on behalf of Wrexham Tourism Forum, has secured Rural Development Plan (RDP) funding to help run the World Heritage Site Tourism Project. Gaining a World Heritage Site has given Wrexham a much stronger tourism offer. The aim of this project is to help the area capitalise on the opportunities (both economic and social) being offered by the new World Heritage Site by investing in its rural tourism sector and tourism product. As part of this project, the council wishes to commission a consultant – or ‘tourism mentor’ – to provide specialist, expert advice and support targeted at tourism businesses, tourism groups and tourism social enterprises in rural Wrexham. The successful consultant / tourism mentor will be expected to work alongside rural tourism businesses to review their strengths and weaknesses in order to identify clear and achievable business plans. The focus will be on raising the quality of the offer to customers as well as raising the performance of businesses.
