WWF Strategic Water Management in China Books, Opportunity to Express Interest in the role of Lead Author.
Descriptions
WWF UK is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified organisations and individuals to fulfil the 'Lead Author' role, responsible for development of two books to complement existing publications relating to water management in China. Expressions of interest from individuals or organisations would be welcome, for one or both of the books. WWF has an ongoing collaboration with GIWP (the strategic planning arm of China's Ministry of Water Resources) to explore and jointly develop strategic guidelines on key aspects of water management. The main outputs of the collaboration have been a series of books, published through UNESCO, which have formed the basis for guidelines that GIWP issues to water managers across China. WWF also uses the books to inform its work to influence water management across the globe. The book series is available to download at https://www.wwf.org.uk/strategic-water-management. The next (third) phase of the project will focus on the development of guidelines, covering groundwater, water infrastructure and spatial planning. This opportunity relates to the groundwater and water infrastructure guidelines. The outcome will be two books (Groundwater Management / Water Infrastructure) in the WWF/GIWP series on Strategic Water Management (approximately 250 pp), aimed at informing water resource planners and policy makers in government ministries/agencies, development finance institutions and the wider water management community on state-of-the-art frameworks and procedures for water management. The books will synthesise case studies of strategic water management. It will set out emerging challenges and describe a strategic framework which can guide sustainable water management going forward, including a set of "golden rules". The books will also include material on relevant institutional and financing issues, monitoring and evaluation and any key processes and procedures which can help water resource planners and policy makers grappling with the challenges of water infrastructure Please refer to the Terms of Reference documents and Scoping Papers for further information. To express interest in this opportunity please provide a covering letter outlining motivation and relevant experience, CV(s) and associated rate card(s).
