Wyesham Flood Alleviation Scheme
Descriptions
The works are located at Wyesham, Monmouthshire County Council in South Wales. The proposed works consist of improvements works to a culverted watercourse and open channel section that flows through the village of Wyesham in Monmouthshire.Included in the works are:•Construction of reinforced concrete inlet structure 1 with trash screen to the rear of 13 Blake Street.•Construction of a maintenance access in agricultural land to inlet structure 1 with turning head in the highway at the end of Justin’s Hill. Works include installation of new highway gullies, 20m of 150mm diameter and 40m of 225mm diameter highway drainage and installation of concrete bollards and replacement of the existing fenceline.•Create approximately 330m of open channel/ditch with raised earth bund along the bottom edge of agricultural land near Blake Street, Underwood Estate and Tudor Road.•Erection of approximately 430m of livestock fencing in agricultural land.•Lay approximately 270m of new 450mm diameter culvert in agricultural land and in the garden of 13 Blake Street from inlet structure 2 to inlet structure 1 (provisional).•Remedial works (incl. trimming connections, repairs, replacement, culvert lining) at approximately 26 locations to the existing 580m (approx) unnamed watercourse (culvert) located in the gardens of residential properties, open space and beneath the highway.•Vegetation clearance and re-profiling of the existing open channel section approximately 85m in the gardens of residential properties.•Replace some of the existing manholes to suit new culvert profile. •Construction of reinforced concrete inlet structure 2 with trash screen and farm access at Tudor Road. Work includes installation of stone pitching channel, masonry headwalls and 4m of 600mm diameter culvert.•Lay approximately 128m of 450mm diameter drainage culvert from Inlet structure 2 in agricultural land to Manhole S6 in highway (Option 2).•Replace trash screen to the existing inlet structure 3 near the lower reaches of the culverted watercourse.•Widen and regrade approximately 200m of existing channel located in agricultural land.
