The requirement is for a bespoke system that will consist of the following components:- two independent sets of rotating anode X-ray tubes (medical grade in region of 110-150kV)- two radiographic/fluoroscopic X-ray power units (three phase power supply).- two radiographic/fluoroscopic digital detectors (between 35-45cm square), associated computer and software licences for fluoroscopy imaging.- installation and relevant training/consultancy.The bi-planar fluoroscopy system must meet the following capability requirements:1. the ability to provide synchronised and simultaneous X-rays and fluoroscopic images.2. the ability to measure in plane and out of plane dynamic joint movements for a range of activities of daily living, at high sample rates and with high resolution recording to allow for accurate image registration.3. In order to provide continuity for existing staff and to minimise training requirements, the system must be compatible with, and able to be integrated and synchronised with a 3D motion capture system which uses Qualisys cameras, Bertec Force plates and Delsys EMG for recording biomechanics. The system has been designed and developed with this in mind.These capabilities are required to further work in our School of Engineering on image based biomechanical characterisation of human joints.The bespoke system has been designed by Cardiff School of Engineering and Xograph to provide an important, novel and practical facility for the study of human joint kinematics and functional analysis. We are not aware of any other supplier that has yet been able to offer this.
