Awarded

XRD System for Residual Stress and Retained Austenite Measurements.

Descriptions

The major purpose for this piece of equipment is to support scientific research and industrial projects undertaken by the AFRC with measuring residual stresses in forged and formed components made from various type of materials ranging from nickel based superalloys, titanium alloys, aluminium alloys, magnesium alloys to austenitic stainless steels, tool steels and other temper hardened steels. The machine will also be used for measuring retained austenite in steels. The XRD machine will be used in a non-production environment, measuring residual stresses in components of various geometries and sizes to high level of accuracy to meet our requirements, our industrial partners requirements and the requirements of our external customers.
