The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a portable milling machine on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Castings Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire. Scope of Requirement The University of Sheffield Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre wishes to invite bids for the supply and initial commissioning of a portable milling machine. The milling machine will form a key part of a portable machining system which is designed to be installed and operated inside large cylindrical vessels. The vessels are closed at both ends, with the main internal access being via manway hatch. To carry out initial development and testing, the machine will be fitted to some form of fixture, either a column and boom or robot arm. The machine will then be fitted to a prototype track system which is designed for use inside the large cylindrical vessels in order to carry out further development trials.
