002 - Mussel debyssing, packing and labelling line

This project is about adding value to an existing product “Live Mussels” and opening new sales channels in domestic and export markets. At present the live mussels produced by Michael Kelly (Shellfish) Ltd. have a very limited shelf life of 4 to 5 days after packing. There is a growing demand for mussels with extended shelf life ready for the pot so it is our intention to introduce a new production line which will prepare the product, debyss, sort, weigh and pack the mussels in vacuum MAP trays and by doing so will extend the shelf life to 8 days. As well as producing a product that will be fully traceable from farm to fork. Detailed specification of units required as outlined in 4 lots below and minimum criteria for this contract detailed in attached document.
