BBC Media Supply Chain Orchestration Platform (RFI)
Descriptions
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Media Supply Chain Orchestration Platform The BBC operates multiple supply chains for the acquisition, processing, and distribution of media and associated files. Underpinning each of these supply chains is some form of orchestration, scheduling and initiating actions, and reporting the results of those actions to users and other systems. Some of the supply chains are wrapped up in managed services, some rely on orchestration tools which the BBC has built itself. The BBC now wishes to consolidate some of its media supply chains and is seeking to understand how it could buy a media supply orchestration platform as a software-as-a-service tool to enable this activity. The BBC is not looking for a single tool to replace all of its supply chains in one go but is looking to buy the foundations for a platform which could over time absorb workloads as opportunities present themselves. Therefore, the tool will provide a common platform on which the BBC can build supply chain workflows itself, and which provides very high availability and correct-every-time execution of requirements. The workflows that may be built using the tool span the whole of the BBC’s business: from longform TV programme receipt, to handling audio programmes, to packaging programmes for onward distribution on third party platforms. The BBC wants to be able to build these workflows itself, without intervention from or reliance on the vendor, so that workflows can be developed, enhanced, and taken down at the BBC’s election.
