Bone Conductor installation - The production of a bone conductor sound installation for Christ Church Cathedral Dublin

Descriptions

Christ Church Cathedral wishes to enhance the experience of self-guided visitors to its grounds and building by providing a new interpretative scheme. As part of this project – which is designed to be multi-sensory with a focus on access for all – it is proposed to use sound to help attract visitors to the site and begin to reveal the stories it has been witness to. The railings which surround the viewing platform at the entrance to the Cathedral, which have a generous metal handrail, are the proposed site for a bone conduction installation, which will allow visitors to experience a number of different sound pieces. These will be produced or sourced especially for Christ Church and will communicate different aspects of cathedral life, taking inspiration from both its history and contemporary incarnation, with a focus on the atmospheric and the evocative.
