Descriptions

The Brief for the project is to design and procure additional accommodation for the school as set out in the Schedule of Accommodation in Appendix A of the BFR (Brief Formulation Report). The project comprises of new permanent build accommodation (circa 778.2m²) to include Special Needs Accommodation. The new classroom base is to provide linkage between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the existing main school buildings. The project will provide for all associated alterations & reconfigurations, car-parking, review set-down and all associated site & ancillary works more particularly described in the Brief Formulation Report. Except where the accommodation to be provided is for Special Needs, the accommodation is to be designed as a standalone extension. The accommodation for pupils with Special Educational needs (SEN) should be located and designed in accordance with the requirements of TGD 026, and its addendums. Project Governance and Communication requirements are noted in Section 5.1.4 of the Brief. At three points before commencing construction, written approval from the Department of Education to move to the next stage is mandatory. As this is a devolved project, it is the responsibility of the Design Team in consultation with the Contracting Authority to ensure compliance with these stages. Modular Accommodation: Once appointed, the Design Team (DT) will be tasked with providing consultancy services relating to the provision of modular accommodation (circa 410.2m²) with associated ancillary works, including all required statutory approvals and compliances, to be used by the school until such time that the permanent structure has been completed. The Design Team (DT) are to procure the modular accommodation using the Department’s “Modular Framework”. The DT are to ensure that the location of the modular accommodation does not impede the development of the permanent additional accommodation.
