Community Builder 3 Project

Descriptions

The Community Builder pilot project began in November 2022 to support the communities and respective community centres in the Bishopton and Clopton areas of Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a multi-agency funded project supported by Stratford District Council, Stratford Town Trust, Stratford Town Council and Orbit Group. The purpose of this project was to understand the existing assets and needs in these communities and mobilise them to increase individual and collective resilience through a range of initiatives and opportunities. The pilot project was considered a success and has been extended for a further five years.

Subsequent to the introduction of this Stratford-upon-Avon town project a further Community Builder has been funded through the Section 106 process to undertake similar activity at Upper Lighthorne a site where a significant amount of housing growth will occur over the next decade.

The Council now seeks a further expansion of community development into a further area/s of the district where similar energy is needed to work with communities to achieve their potential. The Council has identified Bidford-on-Avon, Meon Vale and Shackleton areas and we would encourage potential providers of this type of service to rapidly build relationships with those areas, determine where their work will be best received and then submit a tender, supported by or in partnership with local community representatives and organisations.
