Walsall Council is seeking tenders from qualified and experienced contractors to deliver a comprehensive Disabled Facility Building Works Adaptation Service and a Handyperson Service to both occupied and unoccupied properties. This contract covers a variety of building works associated with Disability Facility Grants and similar adaptations.
The legislation for offering Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) is set out by the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996. This Act places a statutory duty on the authority to provide grant aid to people with disabilities for a range of adaptations to their homes. This duty is not discretionary.
