Domestic abuse service for those who cause harm
Descriptions
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (in partnership with Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council and Southampton City Council) are holding a preliminary market engagement event in respect of a potential new service that is being considered as part of the Police and Crime Commissioner's Police and Crime Plan priorities around Violence Against Women and Girls, reducing reoffending and prevention and early intervention. Between April 2023 and March 2024, there were 25,806 domestic abuse incidents in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, accounting for 16.11% of all recorded crime. The service would aim to address domestic abuse offending amongst people using harmful and abusive behaviours across all risk levels, providing intervention and support that is tailored to the needs of the individuals. The service will recognise that a multi-faceted response is required acknowledging that no single intervention can meet the needs of all those who cause harm in their intimate and non-intimate relationships. The service will reflect intervention guidelines for responding to individuals who commit domestic abuse offences published by the Home Office and Respect. The ambition is to provide a suite of intervention options to meet complex needs and reduce the risk of harm, in a multi-agency framework while ensuring enhanced safety for victims, survivors and their children.
